Happy Spring

Hello Dear Friends,

Happy Spring Equinox, one of the two days of the year that daytime and nighttime are of equal length.  Tomorrow marks the first day of Spring, and we are truly feeling it here on the farm.  Thanks to the increase in sunlight and longer days, the chickens and ducks have created a small but growing mountain of eggs.

I am happy to announce that we have now turned on our weekly subscriptions for Chicken, Pullet and Petite Duck eggs.  Also, for the first time we have a limited number of Goose eggs.  Did you know that one Goose egg is the equivalent of three chicken eggs?  They have a rich taste similar to duck eggs.  The favorite around our house is to add one duck egg for every two chicken eggs for extra fluffy scrambled eggs, but this time of year it's fun to add a goose egg instead.  They are also delicious on their own, or in a custard, quiche or frittata.

Each day more of the plants that we've been seeding in our new greenhouse are planted in our Giving Garden South raised bed garden by our Prep Barn.  There are some yummy early Spring greens and beautiful flowers in our High Tunnel that will be ready in time for Easter, so please be sure to check our online store weekly for what is new.   We are working hard on the designs for our labeling of a few new products, including our own Maple Syrup, and Sourdough Butter crackers made from a 157 year old sourdough starter, so stay tuned!  Our trusty taste testers are raving about both.

Our Donko Shiitake mushrooms are starting to emerge in our mushroom yard.  We expect to be adding them to the online store by the end of this week.

Our farm store at 75 Willow Avenue in Peapack reopens for the season in two weeks on Wednesday, APRIL 3RD, from 2:30pm-5:30pm.  We will have some yummy treats  to try, and tea for those who stop by to pickup or just to say Hi.  If our store hours are not convenient, we are happy to make other arrangements for a pickup time that works better for you.  Please note that we are also offering delivery within a 15 mile distance from the farm for an additional charge of $10 (minimum $30 order value please).

We wish you blessings in this season of renewal, and thank you again for all of your support.

Sincerely,

Michele and the Maranatha Farm Team
