Hello Friends,
We are often asked why our farm follows regenerative agriculture and permaculture practices. At the heart of it, the answer is simple:
Health—for the land, for the food we grow,
and for the people who eat it.
Over the past decade, there has been growing awareness around the connection between food quality, soil health, and human wellbeing. Many people are beginning to ask deeper questions about where their food comes from, how it is grown, and what impact farming practices have on both the environment and our bodies.
These questions have inspired a movement toward farming methods that prioritize soil regeneration, biodiversity, and ecological balance rather than short-term production alone.
Think of it as a win-win arrangement for the land and people. It is a reciprocal relationship between the farmers and the land, rather than extractive, which degrades the soil over time and leads to vegetables that not only don't taste like much, but also have lower nutritional value, not to mention the long term effects of Glyphosate on human health and the environment.
Regenerative farming focuses on rebuilding soil life through practices such as composting, minimal soil disturbance, diverse plantings, and integrating natural ecosystems into the farm landscape.
Permaculture adds another layer by encouraging farms to work with natural systems—observing how forests, waterways, and wildlife interact, and designing agriculture in harmony with those patterns. We like to say that Permaculture is a more permanent view of Agriculture, focusing on perennial crops and ecosystem restoration.
Spending time observing the surrounding landscape makes it clear how delicate these systems can be. In many forests and fields, invasive plant species and degraded soils have slowly altered the balance of native ecosystems.
Restoring healthy land requires patience, thoughtful stewardship, and practices that rebuild life in the soil rather than deplete it.
This philosophy guides the work we do on the farm each day. By focusing on soil health and ecological balance, we can grow food that is not only productive, but also nutrient-dense, resilient, and supportive of the surrounding environment.
Regenerative farming is ultimately about thinking long-term—caring for the land in ways that allow it to remain healthy and productive for generations to come.
